Sara Hedayat
Sara Hedayat started working with weaving Atelier of the University of Arts in 2006. She soon established a small workshop where she collaborated with students of handicrafts and textile design. Subsequently, she launched her own brand, "Div Baf."
Through extensive research on Iranian handicrafts and their weaving traditions, Hedayat focused on reviving the Chador Shab, a treasured textile from Qasemabad village. By employing high-quality materials and innovating its use, she attracted new weavers to the community. Collaborative efforts with other artisans led to the inscription of Qasemabad Chador Shab on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
From 2012 to 2016, Hedayat's team organized an exhibition at Tehran's Masoudieh Mansion, showcasing handmade fabrics and live weaving demonstrations. This interactive approach garnered significant public interest and opened new opportunities. Building on this success, Hedayat collaborated on reviving the Kashan silk Chador Shab over the next two years.
Throughout her career, Hedayat has prioritized quality materials and products while preserving the essence of Iranian art and textile traditions. Her innovative approach has led to new applications for these crafts. She has been honored with the National Medal and Golden Cypress from the Cultural Heritage and Handicrafts Organization, the Stamp of Originality from
UNESCO, and the Silver Cypress at the Fajr Handicrafts Festival.
