IMMORTAL
The purpose of this exhibition is to showcase a diverse range of visual works related to the themes of the Muharram decades and the rituals associated with this event. Additionally, it invites dialogue on the aesthetics that originated from a source dating back far beyond the fifteenth century (AH) and explores the philosophical and mystical aspects of Iranian thought and tradition.
The gallery space provides the opportunity for the audience to become more familiar with motifs and, with even greater precision than confronting these works, establish a closer connection between identity and visual perception. The gathering of this collection may open doors for further inquiries. This event may guide artists' perspectives towards contemplating profound meanings such as valor and truth in the mirror of ‘Ashura’, reflecting its essence through visual forms, decorations, compositions, colors, textures, and weaving.
Mentioning this point is essential, that the gallery space ultimately provides a more visually immersive environment for articulating this discourse. In the general study of the ‘Ashura culture’, archetypes such as the eternal conflict between good and evil, the struggle between truth and falsehood, all signify the repetition of an archetype in safeguarding life and reflecting the timeless meaning through human agency. Once again, the portrayal of mythologies of water and greenery, enduring confrontation with opposing forces -drought and thirst- illustrates and describes the Ashura event, delving into the narrative of Imam Hussein and his companions.
