Woven & NonWoven

"Woven and Nonwoven" exhibition aims to challenge the perennial boundary between art and technique once again by showcasing the works of traditional Kashan weavers alongside active artists in the field of fabric and fibers. If choice and intention are the constituent elements of an artistic work, in the traditional textures of Kashan, we have both the choice of artists and artistic intent. On the one hand, the dependence of traditional textiles on dyeing, elements of dyeing, and color theory, like most textile artworks, infiltrates traditional weaving.

In comparison to contemporary textile artists who use various materials and tools in their work, traditional weavers create with minimal factors such as thread, color, pattern, and technique, and for centuries, this trend has kept this limited approach alive.

On the other hand, the Elimination of function in most works of contemporary artists has brought fabric and fibers closer to aesthetic use. The audience in this exhibition will experience a unique viewing space and a deep study of the constituent elements of traditional artistic textiles and new serious artworks that sometimes have everyday applications.
